Superintendent Jason Alexander says the overall budget impact of the compensation is an increase of some $630,000.
School districts are waiting to see what the Nebraska Legislature does with a tax restructuring plan and whether that results in more state aid, or simply tighter tax levy restrictions on schools. Alexander says school districts have been opposed to dropping the overlay tax levy lid of $1.05, to around 90 cents.

Debate apparently has ended for the year, on a bill allowing state funding toward private school scholarships. The measure went through three hours of debate without a vote to advance the bill further.
In action by the Beatrice School Board Monday night, agreements were approved between the district and Educational Service Unit number Five for special education, alternative education and elementary science instruction for the 2019-2020 school year. The board also approved an agreement with Nebraska Mental Health and approved a bid for auditing services.
