NORFOLK, NE - Northeast Nebraska isn't exactly known for pumping out movies, but that hasn't stopped a group of locals from putting their creative minds together.
Production company, TAHOFH, is partnering with Union Creek entertainment to create their first feature-length film set right here in Norfolk, Nebraska, titled, "Thank You For Renting.”
The film is about a group of friends and how they cope with hometown video store closing.
With a cast and crew of over thirty people, most of which are originally from the area, Tyler Wieseler, hopes they can shine a light on the hidden talent in the area.
Weissler says, "when I came home and I started to meet people who wanted to do the same thing that I did, I didn't really know where to start. It was great that we all put together our collective knowledge and decided to make it happen."
With their first script read on June 8th at Johnny Birds Brewing Company in Wayne, the cast and crew is excited to start filming in two weeks at Chris Logan's Video Store in Norfolk.
Store owner, Chris Logan, sees this as a good opportunity for his business.
Even though he sees this as a boost for him, Logan faces struggles daily with keeping his small business alive.
“It's on its way out,” Logan says. “It's cool to do the movie before it's gone.”
Even through the ups and downs, this production crew and the store hopes this movie will be a success and give them a chance to see themselves on the big screen.
Wieseler says, “why not us, why not here, why not where we grew up?”
