BEATRICE - Beatrice Public Schools has hired a new Assistant Principal for the Middle School.
The selection of Andrew Haake will fill a vacancy left by the retirement of Assistant Principal Pam Henning. He will be the assistant to John Jarosh.
Haake has been a Building Principal at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Beatrice, for the past three years. Prior to that, he served in the Lincoln Public School system, as a coach and a middle school social studies instructor.
Meanwhile, the district is losing two more veteran staff members to retirement. The Beatrice School Board Monday night accepted the retirement of Dr. Joan Christen, as the high school science teacher. Christen has been instrumental in obtaining grant support to help the district advance science, technology, engineering and math. Carolyn Hovendick is retiring as a middle school physical education teacher.
The District 15 Board also accepted the resignations of High school English teacher Mariah Reicks and Middle School Band Instructor, Darren Lojo.
