Norfolk's Grand Theatre sold to Norfolk developer

By News Channel NebraskaNORFOLK - A Norfolk landmark will be getting a new lease on life.
Officials with the Norfolk Community Theatre announced on Monday that the Grand Theatre has been sold to Norfolk-based Conover Properties.
The developers say in a news release that their intent is to refurbish the site into commercial…office and residential space.
The theatre first opened back in 1921…and served as Norfolk's first movie theater.
It was donated to the Norfolk Community Theatre in 2005…with the hope of turning the building into a permanent performance space. But officials with the theatre say their fundraising efforts fell short.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
Conover is working on similar redevelopment projects at Norfolk's Depot and the Madison Opera House.
