Two injured in multi-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near Scottsbluff

Two Mitchell residents were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash with entrapment Wednesday evening on Highway 26 near County Road 19 west of Scottsbluff.

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — Two people were injured Wednesday evening in a multi-vehicle crash with entrapment on Highway 26 near County Road 19.

The Scottsbluff Rural Fire Protection District was dispatched to the crash at approximately 5:25 p.m. on March 4. Firefighters responded to reports of multiple vehicles involved and a trapped occupant.

Scottsbluff Fire Department was requested for mutual aid to assist with extrication efforts at the scene.

According to officials, 34-year-old James Gridley of Mitchell was driving a Nissan Rogue involved in the crash. His passenger, 66-year-old Julia Blanco, also of Mitchell, was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Both occupants were transported to Regional West Medical Center by Regional West EMS for treatment.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, Scottsbluff Police Department and Scotts Bluff County Communications Center also responded to the scene and assisted with the incident.
