ELGIN - The Elgin Public-Pope John Wolfpack continued their winning ways with a Thursday night sweep of the Randolph Cardinals, with the girls winning 80-22 and the boys 61-39.

The Lady Wolfpack dominated from the outset, not even allowing Randolph to cross midcourt until halfway through the 1st period, leading 26-5 after one and 46-11 at the half. Braelyn Martinsen and Gentry Zwingman each poured in 9 points to pace their team, while the Cards' Abbigail Backer scored 11 in a losing cause.

The Elgin boys polished off the sweep as both Karson Kallhoff and Max Henn each scored a game-high 20 points. The Pack and Cards fought furiously through the first period as Randolph held a 14-13 edge after one. But an 18-4 run by Elgin in the 2nd put the Wolfpack in front for good, and they held serve with about a 20-point advantage throughout the 2nd half. Ryan Engel and Luke Harder topped all Cards scorers with 8 apiece.

EPPJ (19-5 girls, 21-2 boys) head to St. Marys-O'Neill next Friday, while Randolph (1-18 girls, 10-8 boys) are home against Stuart tonight.
