Pleasanton, Neb. — A milestone season helped put Pleasanton senior Brennan Lindner in the statewide spotlight.

Brennan has been named ESPN Tri-Cities Male Athlete of the Month after surpassing 1,000 career points and emerging as one of the top scorers in Nebraska high school basketball this winter.

He crossed the career scoring mark during Pleasanton’s game against Silver Lake and currently averages around 24 points per game — third-highest in the state across all classes.

“It’s exciting,” said Lindner. “It’s just the hard work that we put in all season long.”

The honor carries some family bragging rights as well. Brennan said a cousin previously earned a similar award during her high school volleyball career.

“She was a pretty good volleyball player,” he said with a smile. “So now I have something she can’t use on me anymore.”

At a small school like Pleasanton, Brennan has taken advantage of the opportunity to compete in multiple sports, representing his community on both the football field and the basketball court.

“That’s one of the things I like about going to a small school — you get to play all the sports,” said Lindner. “Just being able to represent on both the football field and the basketball court is a privilege.”

Some of his most memorable moments have come against familiar opponents, including a career-high scoring night last season against rival Amherst.

“You play all those kids that you know,” Brennan said. “It’s always fun if you play well against those guys.”

As his senior year continues, the relationships built over years of competition stand out just as much as the numbers. “That’s going to be the one thing I’m going to miss,” said Brennan. “Some of these guys I’ve been playing with since third grade.”

Pleasanton head coach Jason Boyd said Brennan’s scoring ability has been a steady presence for the Bulldogs.

“It’s nice having someone that can score the ball like he can,” Boyd said. “Having someone you can rely on to make tough baskets is huge.” Boyd also pointed to Brennan’s leadership and experience as a four-year contributor. “He’s a good leader,” said Boyd said. “His maturity shows in tough situations, and he leads by example.”
