Weapons, theft charges filed in Richardson County

FALLS CITY- Raul Cassillas Martinez, 61, of Schleswig, Iowa, is scheduled for arraignment today in Richardson County on charges of a weapons violation and possession on Dec. 16.
A Richardson County Sheriff’s Office affidavit says a Mazda with Iowa plates was stopped on Highway 75 and a knife, machete and pipe with meth residue were found.
In a separate case, Joshua Packett, 43, of Auburn is charged with theft, criminal impersonation and failure to pay sales tax on Nov. 7.
An affidavit says Colonial Acres Nursing Home reported fraud involving Menard’s rebate checks. Investigators suspect that Packett used some of the rebate checks for personal use and say the former maintenance supervisor used the nursing home’s tax sales tax exemption for person purchases.
