Hastings City Council approves plans for 58-unit housing development
HASTINGS, Neb. – A Lincoln-based developer has the go-ahead to build dozens of new housing units on the southeast side of Hastings, following a unanimous approval from the city council Monday night.
The approval of the preliminary plat for the Cedar Park Subdivision was approved on a 6-0 vote. Council members Larry Consbruck and Maggie Esch were absent from the meeting.
According to the development plans, Hoppe Development of Lincoln will build 58 units of housing on 12 lots on 3.67 acres of land southeast of the intersection of E D St. and S Cedar Ave in Hastings.
The first 10 lots will become 10 town home units, and the last two lots will become an apartment complex with four buildings.
The vacated home at 502 E D St is the only existing house on the plot of land, and will be demolished to make room for the new development.
The gravel road on S Cedar Ave will be paved by the city to allow access into the town homes.
