LINCOLN, Neb. – The Papillion-La Vista South Titans staved off a furious Omaha Westside comeback attempt in the second half to claim their first ever state basketball championship by a score of 61-58.

The Titans came out swinging in the first half, and shot 50% from the floor (11-22 FG) with Bryson Bahl scoring 15 of his game-high 21 points in the first two quarters.

After PLVS led 32-20 at halftime, Omaha Westside went on an 18-4 run in the third quarter, and held a brief lead for the first time in the game.

The scoring went back and forth in the fourth quarter. PLVS's Bryson Bahl was fouled on a three-point attempt with the Titans up 57-56, and he sunk all three free throws.

Off a missed Titan free throw with two seconds left, Westside's Lee'Murhion Robinson's hail-mary heave from the opposite side of the court was just off target, securing the win for Papillion-La Vista South.

The Titan's title comes after they fell in district finals for the past three years to miss the state tournament.

Bryson Bahl led the Titans with 21 points, while Jayden Herrera had 17.

Robinson and Emre Gedik had 15 points each for the Warriors.
