Hastings resident David L. “Dave” Brown, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at his home.

 

Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, with visitation 3:30-5:30 p.m. with the family present at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Private family burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hastings Catholic Schools Foundation, Catholic Social Services, or Good Samaritan Society Hastings Hospice. Dave was born November 5, 1938, on the farm in Pauline, NE, to Lloyd and Frances (Breitfelder) Brown. He graduated from St. Cecilia High School in 1956. Dave married Marilyn Dillon on August 4, 1962, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

 

Dave worked at Hastings Utilities as a substation and metering supervisor. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Cecilia Choir, and Knights of Columbus. Dave held many interests including painting, gardening, photography, and woodworking. He said his greatest accomplishments were his daughters and family. He especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brother-in-law, Kathleen Brown and Jeanine & Steve Friend; and son-in-law, Sidney Geil.
