LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a domestic disturbance that left two people dead in southeast Lincoln.

According to the Lincoln Police Department, officers responded Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. to S. 84th Street and Sandalwood Drive following reports of a 21-year-old woman being struck by a black car driven by a 28-year-old man. 

LPD said preliminary investigations indicate two bystanders helped the woman into their SUV in order to get her to safety after she was hit. 

According to the news release, the black car that struck the woman then followed the SUV as it sped down Indian Hills Drive, eventually hitting the SUV and causing it to spin out and crash into the front yard of a nearby home.

The male driver of the car then approached the SUV and fired multiple shots at the female victim. 

The 21-year-old woman, who was known to the male driver, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds and is undergoing surgery. Wednesday, Feb. 26, LPD said that the woman died later in the day.

The 28-year-old male suspect driving the black car was found dead at the scene.

The two Good Samaritans were not injured.

One gun was recovered at the scene, and the investigation is still ongoing.
