----- Original Story -----
KEARNEY, Neb. — Firefighters are on the scene of a structure fire on the southwest edge of Kearney.
The first call came in just before 5:25 Thursday evening at 290 Yanney Ave., which is the business address for Ed Broadfoot & Sons Sand and Gravel. Authorities on scene say the fire is at a residence on the property.
The property is on the south side of I-80 and is only accessible by a dead-end overpass on Yanney Ave. Fire trucks needed to fill with water at a hydrant on the north side and drive over the overpass to the south side to use it. They repeated the process when the trucks ran out of water. Firefighters were still spraying water on the structure at 7:30 p.m.
Authorities remain on the scene and details are still emerging about the fire. We don’t have official information about any possible injuries.
