Sunday morning disturbance results in arrest
POTTER -- At about 9:13 a.m. Sunday, December 22, law enforcement were dispatched to a family dispute in Potter.
According to the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office, the dispute started when Zachariah Knifong was bit by a dog belonging to his mother.
According to Sheriff Adam Frerichs, Knifong became upset, and acted beligerent toward his mother. Frerichs said family members used various measures to calm Knifong; all without success. Knifong then retrieved a rifle from a vehicle and threatened family members.
His mother drove him in a vehicle away from the scene to remove him from the conflict.
Nebraska State Patrol and Cheyenne County Sheriff's Department personnel contacted Knifong and his mother on U.S. 30 a short distance east of Potter. Knifong and his mother were escorted back to the Potter residence. As a result of the investigation, Knifong was arrested on charges of Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony and Disturbing The Peace.
