Hempire Labs S.L. Announces Capital Funding Campaign For Plastic Alternative R&D
With the goal of reducing carbon footprint and global dependence on petroleum-based plastics, Hempire Labs S.L. has announced that it is seeking research funding for a new bioplastic startup focusing on eco-friendly hemp-based plastics. Investors interested in industrial hemp material development can contact the company for more details.

According to statistics from the UN Environment Programme, 400 million tonnes of plastic waste are produced each year, approximately 85% of which are sent to landfills or discarded as unregulated waste. Because plastic can remain in the environment for 20 to 1,000 years, it has become a major contaminant in many ecosystems, with an estimated 75 to 199 million tonnes of plastic circulating in oceans alone.
Recognising the need for more sustainable alternatives, Hempire Labs S.L. has begun research into plastics derived from hemp fibers, with a focus on developing products with high tensile strength and durability. Hemp-based plastics can also be designed to be biodegradable depending on the polymer mix, creating minimal environmental impact when discarded.
The company’s current target sectors are automotive, packaging, construction, and consumer goods, which hemp plastics are suitable for due to the material’s innate properties. Hemp-based composites are strong but lightweight, being 25% lighter than alternatives made from traditional plastics, and when combined with organic or synthetic resins, they can provide improved heat resistance and durability. Additionally, hemp-based plastics can be moulded into clips, tabs, fasteners, trim pieces, and other shapes, giving them versatile applications in the aforementioned industries.
Hempire Labs S.L. also notes that hemp-based plastics have the potential for scalability as the demand for sustainable materials grows. For this reason, the company believes they will become cost-effective over time, making them a profitable investment for capital firms. The total goal for this round of funding is €5 million, and Hempire Labs S.L. encourages all investors interested in contributing to contact them.
“Our innovative laboratory techniques have proven that industrial hemp can be transformed into high-performance materials that match or exceed the capabilities of traditional plastics,” says Paulina Molyneux-Webb, investor-relations director of Hempire Labs S.L. “This funding round represents a critical opportunity for forward-thinking investors to participate in a genuine environmental technology breakthrough.”
