ST. PAUL, Neb. — A Central Nebraska school district will again need to find a new way to finance facility improvements.

Howard County voters against a bond issue for St. Paul Public Schools on Tuesday. 1,076 people voted against it and 888 voted for it.

The bond issue was for slightly over $14 million. The bond would fund a new building to replace a 100-year-old existing building, an on-campus preschool, an expanded cafeteria and a new activities entrance.

This is the second time a St. Paul school bond has failed this year. Voters sided against a similar, $18 million proposal in a special election in March.
