Shooting leaves Kearney man with life-threatening injuries, woman arrested
KEARNEY, Neb. —A Kearney man is fighting for his life after being shot by a woman he lives with, according to police.
The shooting happened at 2:10 Sunday afternoon in the 1800 block of 7th Ave. A news release says officers arrested 56-year-old Karen Geisler outside of the house. Officers provided emergency first aid to the victim until the scene was safe for paramedics.
Police say the victim is a 62-year-old man who lives with Geisler. An ambulance transported him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Geisler was booked into the Buffalo County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and a weapons charge.
The release says investigators are still processing the scene. Police say it was an isolated incident and there is no public safety threat.
