Kool-Aid Days to draw attendees from all across the U.S.
HASTINGS, Neb. – 23 flavors of Kool-Aid, food vendors, and countless activities are set to entertain one of the most popular yearly events in Hastings this weekend.
Edward Perkins created the beloved Kool-Aid soft drink in Hastings in 1927, and is now sold on shelves worldwide.
From Friday to Sunday, the Adams County Fairgrounds and the Hastings Museum will welcome Kool-Aid enthusiasts from all stretches of the country.
"My very first year of being a member of the Kool-Aid Board and Kool-Aid Days, I actually met someone from both Los Angeles and New York in the same day," said Kool-Aid Days Board Member Beau Huffman.
The annual event is made possible by sponsors and unpaid volunteers of the event, who can unnoticed, but are the heartbeat of Kool-Aid Days.
"The payment is just doing good for the community and the people, the families, the kids," said Huffman. "That's why the event was started originally, was just a fun family event to end summer before going back to school."
New events this year include a disc golf tournament at Lake Hastings and an adult carnival on Saturday.
It will again coincide with the Oregon Trail Rodeo at the Fairgrounds also from Friday until Sunday.
It only costs $3 to buy a cup that lets you drink all the Kool-Aid your heart, or stomach desires all weekend long.
