Hastings Sodbusters promote 22-year-old assistant to Head Coach
HASTINGS, Neb. – The Hastings Sodbusters baseball team is promoting 22-year-old Assistant Coach Danny Wisor to Head Coach, making him one of the youngest head coaches in the game.
The head coaching vacancy became open on June 28, when former Hastings College and Sodbuster Head Coach Joel Schipper submitted his resignation to take the head coaching position at Calvin University in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Sodbuster General Manager and Co-owner Scott Galusha interviewed multiple candidates over the next week and decided at the end of the week that Wisor was the right fit for the job.
Galusha said that his decision was influenced by team veterans Sawyer Duddleston and Josh Prinner, who wanted Wisor to become the Head Coach.
Wisor was a pitcher for four years at Hastings College, and coached his first game as the head man on Monday, where the Sodbusters lost a close game to the Casper Spuds 7-6.
In his first postgame interview as Sodbuster Manager, Wisor said age is just a number and expects the team to have success for the rest of the season.
The full postgame interview from Wisor on the Sodbuster livestream can be found in the video player above.
