Hastings College baseball coach resigns

Hastings College is looking for a new baseball coach.

HASTINGS, Neb. — Hastings College is looking for a new baseball coach.

The Broncos announced that Joel Schipper resigned as head coach on Friday. He is leaving to become head baseball coach at Div. lll Calvin College, which is in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich. Schipper was an assistant coach at Calvin before coming to Hastings. He told his team Friday morning.

“On behalf of Hastings College, I thank Coach Schipper for his service to the college as a coach,” athletic director Chris Clements said in a statement. “Schipper brought a great attitude to the office and the field and I wish him the very best.”

Schipper finished 33-107 over three seasons at Hastings College. He coached 13 all-conference players.

Schipper is also the head coach of the Hastings Sodbusters, a summer collegiate team in the Independence League.
