HASTINGS, Neb. -- Following a recount in Adams County, the result for a district commissioner race remains unchanged.

According to Adams County Clerk Ramona Thomas, the recount was finalized Monday morning. Chuck Neuman is the winner of the District 6 race for Adams County Board of Commissioners.

A recount is automatic if a race is decided by less than two percent with under 500 voters. The Adams County Election Commission said the race for the District 6 Adams County Commissioner was too close to call and a recount was needed.

Only a two-vote difference separated Republican incumbent Chuck Neuman (196 votes) and Republican challenger Mike Tharp (194 votes).

Thomas said the recount was witnessed and reviewed by the Adams County Canvassing Board and determined there was no change from the May 14 primary election.

Neuman will become the sole nominee for the District 6 Commissioner position since there was no Democrat candidate.
