NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- Two men are in jail following a pursuit in Central Nebraska over the weekend.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, 29-year-old Meshach Williams of Michigan and 29-year-old Marco Nickens of Michigan were arrested on Saturday.

Officials said it started when Williams fled a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near North Platte. Troopers began a pursuit and say the suspect vehicle reached speeds above 110 mph and passed other vehicles on the shoulder. Troopers were able to deploy stop sticks to slow the vehicle in Dawson County. The vehicle came to a stop near Gothenburg. A news release said the driver fled on foot and the passenger remained in the vehicle.

Troopers conducted a search of the vehicle and found 16 pounds of marijuana, 40 psilocybin mushroom products and over one pound of an unknown white powder.

Williams and Nickens were arrested and face drug charges. Williams was also charged with flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and traffic violation.

Both are in the Lincoln County Jail.
