Central Nebraska sees decent rainfall Thursday; more rain, severe storms possible Friday night

According to the Hastings National Weather Center, as much as 5.23 inches of rain fell in Wood River, and 17 cities/villages saw more than three inches of rain.

CENTRAL Neb. – Many cities in central Nebraska saw more than three inches of rain Thursday night, and more rain is expected Friday night. 

According to the Hastings National Weather Center, as much as 5.23 inches of rain fell in Wood River, and 17 cities/villages saw more than three inches of rain. 

Grand Island had the most rain in the Tri-Cities with 3.53 inches, 1.45 inches of rain fell in Hastings, and Kearney received 0.37 inches. 

Central Nebraska is at a marginal risk for severe weather Friday evening with rain, wind gusts as high as 60 MPH, and possibilities of hail and flooding in some areas. 

The biggest threat for severe weather is in eastern Nebraska near Lincoln and Omaha, and into Iowa.
