Hastings resident Leah Ann Johnson, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Tiffany Square, Grand Island, NE.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Paul Ozbun officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Leah was born October 7, 1938, in Holdrege, NE to Emos John and Helena Margaret (Bunger) Garrelts. Growing up Leah lived near Wilcox, Bloomington, Macon, Holstein, and Hastings. She graduated from Holstein High School in 1956. Leah Married Laurence R. Johnson on June 19, 1956 in Holstein. She is a member of Fraternal Order of the EAGLES Auxilary 592 (Past President) and the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laurence R. Johnson; daughter, Marilyn Mae Flesner-Alexander; brother, Paul E. Garrelts; sister and brother-in-law, Miriam E. and Ivan Gellermann; Son-in-law, Ed Thiel.
