LINCOLN, NEB - A handful of Huskers had the chance to showcase their talents to a room full of NFL scouts on Wednesday morning, as the team hosted its annual NFL Pro Day.

“To do this as part of finishing out my college career here at Nebraska, where I started, it’s just great and I was happy with the outcome,” Quinton Newsome said.

Nebraska defensive back Quinton Newsome was one of several Huskers left off of the NFL combine invite list. He discussed how not being in Indy, impacted what he had to do at Pro Day.

“The 40 (yard dash) was a big thing for me,” Newsome said. “Being able to run as I did today was a great feeling and finishing with the DB drills, feel smooth, it was very exciting.”

One player who turned some heads was speedy safety Phalen Sanford. The former track star broke down what he would provide to an NFL roster.

“I think they can watch stuff from today, go back and watch some film, and I think they’ll get a pretty good sense of what I’m able to do.”

The only offensive lineman was Nourdien Nouili. With the position being one of conditioning, he talked about the importance in training leading up to the big day.

“During the drills you feel it,” Nouili said. “You’re standing there in the breaks, everyones looking at you, you’ve got to hurry up. It’s a cool experience, though. For a national player to be Abel to participate, I was just glad I got to do it.”

The NFL Draft is set for April 25-27.
