New Hall of Fame wall kiosk, inductees unveiled in Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND, Neb.- - Three prominent alumni are joining a central Nebraska high school's hall of fame.
At a ceremony on Tuesday, Grand Island Public Schools and the Grand Island Schools Foundation unveiled their new Hall of Fame wall kiosk with it its three new members.
The kiosk is a computer that allows people to look up facts about the 74 inductees. The new 2024 Hall of Honor members are George Ayoub, Dr. Thomas Meedel and Steve Hornady.
“I feel really honored and humbled because this is, if you look at the board, some really spectacular people that did way more than I’ve done but you know I guess it’s just humility and I think back up to the things that I learned in high school that eventually came around and help me so I guess I’m humbled by the honor,” Ayoub said.
“I come back quite a bit because we have family here but yeah it’s great,” Meedel said. "You know, I walking through those doors, wow, not the usual ones I would come in here of course but what a great deal. I really enjoyed it, really really very special."
Ayoub is a columnist, journalist and writer. Meedel studied biology and then went on to get a Ph. D in microbiology. Hornady wasn’t in attendance, but is the president of Hornady Manufacturing in Grand Island.
