Update 3/8 4:40 p.m.- According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, both I-80 and Highway 30 are now open. Officials urge people to still be cautious while driving, as roads could still be slick.

NEBRASKA -- An early snowstorm has closed parts of Interstate 80 and has made US 30 impassable in the central and panhandle areas.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation closed I-80 eastbound between Sidney and 32 miles east of North Platte. I-80 westbound has also been closed between Kearney and 19 miles east of Ogallala.

NDOT called Highway 30 between Ogallala to Gothenburg impassable. 

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Hastings, a winter weather advisory is in effect until noon for counties south of I-80. 

Snow is expected to continue through midday with wind gusts up to 35 mph.
