Three Central Nebraska high school automotive classes receive new tools from Central Community College
HASTINGS, Neb. – Three HIGH SCHOOL AUTOMOTIVE PROGRAMs IN Central Nebraska are NOW BETTER EQUIPPING their STUDENTS THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONATION.
On Friday morning, Central Community College delivered dozens of new tools to Hastings and Kearney high school thanks to a CCC scholarship provided by the Carriage House Foundation.
In Hastings, Hastings High School and CCC partner up to provide an automotive skills class at the high school.
The new tools included torque wrenches, micrometers, measurement devices, and a tire spreader.
Hastings High Senior Dane Warner is one of fifty auto shop students who showed his appreciation for these new tools due to many of the old tools consistently malfunctioning.
"It's way easier," said Warner. "The digital micrometers and torque wrenches are way easier to use compared to the old ones where we manually had to put in what torque we wanted."
Automotive Instructor Rob Schuster says having these certain tools at HHS is important for students.
"It'll be easier for the students to use the same tools they use in the industry," said Schuster. "Here at the high school, they're going to learn with the same tools the industry uses. So when they leave the high school and go onto college or the industry, they're going to see those same tools."
Holdrege high school also received new tools, which were delivered two weeks ago, thanks to the $20,000 scholarship donation.
