GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Many people and businesses in Grand Island are operating as normal despite an ongoing blizzard warning. 

Businesses on Fourth St. are working as normal despite the heavy snow falling through the morning. The city has opted to keep its offices open during normal business hours. The city council and county commissioners' meetings scheduled for Tuesday are on as scheduled. By comparison, Kearney closed its city offices and library at noon and Hastings has canceled its council meeting scheduled for Monday night.

A snow emergency took effect at noon in Grand Island and remains in place through noon on Tuesday. City plows are out working on city streets
