GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The city of Grand Island is selecting someone from the region for its next city attorney. 

At Tuesday city council meeting, members approved the mayoral appointment of City Attorney Kari Fisk.

The city attorney position became vacant upon the appointment of former City Attorney Laura McAloon to the position of city administrator. 

Fisk has experience advising the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners for many years. 

The board approved her appointment unanimously. 

Fisk will receive an annual salary of $158,557.98 and will begin working on Nov. 6.
