Sutherland man arrested for sexual assault charges
SUTHERLAND, Neb. -- A man was arrested in Sutherland on Monday for sexual assault and false imprisonment.
Lincoln County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to investigate a domestic assault near W Emerson Ave.
While authorities were en route, it was reported the victim had escaped from the house.
LCSO said they met the victim along Highway 30 and reported blood and bruises on her body, and they called EMS.
It was reported, the victim's right eye was swollen shut and she was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
The Sheriff's Office said Juan Martinez was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault and false imprisonment.
According to the investigation, Martinez arrived uninvited to the victim's house and insisted on having sex with her.
LCSO said when the victim refused, he sexually assaulted her while beating and slapping her face.
When the victim tried to escape, officials said Martinez reportedly retrained her by beating and slapping her even more.
The Sheriff's Office reported the victim escaped the house with her child after Martinez had passed out.
Sheriff's deputies said they circled the house and found Martinez on the property where police said he was arrested and booked at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
