GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A Grand Island man is facing charges after police say he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old. 

According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers responded to the Ramada Inn around 5:15 Saturday morning to a report that several people had detained a man they accused of sexual assault.

The victim reportedly told officers she was sexually assaulted at a home in Grand Island by Gerald Binfield. 

She said she told him no and felt impaired because she had been drinking, and he had given her cocaine, according to police.

Police said Binfield had a bag of cocaine, a THC vape, a spoon and a scale in his possession when officers arrested him.

Binfield is charged with first-degree sexual assault and three drug violations.
