Hastings host community planting event
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - There’s not a better way to show that spring is here like planting flowers, and that was the goal at the community planting day in downtown Hastings.
Officials said every year they beautify downtown Hastings and for the first time in several years, the community was involved.
As they helped place flowers in planters in front of business around the downtown area. Officials said the event was all about community involvement.
“I always believe that the more people you can get involved, then the more community members that can involved in things happening downtown the better for the community,” said Megan Arrington-Williams, Director of Downtown Center Association.
Arrington-Williams said having downtown business leaders are key to this effort. One business owner led the charge in improving the scenery.
“Just with all the activities going on downtown and with all the renovations happening it’s just something that we can do to help out and make downtown look a lot better for the summer and help people enjoy all the activities going on down here,” said Matt Cranson, Owner of Small Town Famous.
Cranson said it’s a great family activity to get them out the house and kick start his family’s summer.
