GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Authorities say alcohol played a factor in a two-vehicle crash that killed one person near Grand Island.

According to Hall County’s Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the accident Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 281 and White Cloud Road, about two miles north of Grand Island.

62-year-old Gary Williams, of St. Paul, was driving eastbound on White Cloud Road, failed to yield when crossing the highway and hit a car. Williams was transported to a local hospital.

24-year-old Michelle Findley of Palmer, who was driving the car, was transported to a hospital along with three other passengers. Another passenger, 59-year-old Darren Findley of St. Libory, died at scene. 

The incident remains under investigation, but deputies say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision.
