KEARNEY, Neb. — A Central Nebraska movie theater is set to reopen after being closed for nearly two years.

Kearney Cinema 8 will welcome in moviegoers on Monday for the first time since July 9, 2021. That night, a storm caused severe damage to the building’s roof, HVAC system and some of the interior.

While it was shut down, the theater’s ownership completely renovated the auditoriums to include luxury seating and lighting. Management has been busy training staff this week leading up to reopening on Monday.

The first movie showing on Monday is Creed lll at 4:00 p.m.
