KEARNEY, Neb. – A central Nebraska man is heading to prison after convictions for raping a 15-year-old girl and possession of child pornography.

Buffalo County District Judge Ryan Carson handed down the sentence to 72-year-old Curtis Steier, giving him 5-10 years for attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child and 1-2 years for the child porn conviction.

Authorities alleged that Steier sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl on three separate occasions last year. He was arrested last summer for the sexual assault charges and the child porn accusation.

Two counts of first-degree sexual assault were dropped as part of a plea agreement.
