LINCOLN, Neb. - A late shot block rejected Crete's upset attempt, allowing top-seeded Omaha Skutt to advance to the Class B boys basketball state championship game for the eighth time in school history.

The SkyHawks built multiple double-digit leads, but it came down to the final shot, with Skutt turning away Crete, 57-55.

Skutt's JJ Ferrin led all scorers with 22 points, while his fellow senior Jacob Brack added 13 points for the SkyHawks.

Crete was paced by Aidan McDowell's 19 points. Jabin Gardiner added 15, and Benjamin Ehlers put in 10 for the Cardinals.

While Jack Healey scored just six points, he turned in the play of the game. With McDowell driving to the basket, Healey swatted his potential game-tying shot as time expired to secure the Skutt victory.

Skutt has now made four of the past six state championship games, but it is the first time since the SkyHawks' back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007 that Skutt has reached the title round in consecutive seasons.

The SkyHawks will play either York or Platteview in the championship game on Saturday.
