LINCOLN, Neb. -- Carter Siems gave Tri County a championship performance, pushing the Trojans into the Class C2 boys basketball semifinals.

Siems tallied 30 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals in Tri County's 56-41 win over the Cardinals. Caden Bales added 17 for the Trojans.

Doniphan-Trumbull held a 34-30 edge going into the fourth quarter, but the Trojans erupted for 26 points in the final frame. That burst came after the Cardinals held Tri County to just two points in the third quarter.

Freshman Jack Poppe paced Doniphan-Trumbull with 17 points.

Tri County will move into the semifinals to take on Amherst after the Broncos beat Norfolk Catholic Thursday afternoon. It is just the second time in school history that Tri County has reached the semifinals, with the Trojans' lone other appearance coming in 1988.

The loss ends Doniphan-Trumbull's season in the opening round of the state tournament for the second straight season. The Cardinals close the season with a 24-3 record. Tri County moves on with a 24-4 mark.
