GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Conditions deteriorated in Grand Island overnight, causing further closures on Interstate 80 and Highway 30.

While it seemed that it wasn’t going to snow around 2 p.m., the snow started to pile up and hadn't stopped until the early morning hours of Thursday.

According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, plows are working on clearing the roads. In the Meantime, Interstate 80 and Highway 30 are closed from Grand Island to Wyoming, and officials are asking people not to drive around barricades or roadblocks.

The snow is expected to continue to move east through the state into Thursday.

In Grand Island, the street division is out plowing the emergency snow routes and has extended the snow emergency and parking band until tomorrow morning.
