HASTINGS, Neb. -- Authorities in central Nebraska responded to a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.

The Kearney Sheriff's Office said that around 12:20 p.m., they were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident near the junction of Highway 6 and Highway 44.

A Hastings woman was driving west in a Lexus RX350 and attempted to make a U-turn, officials said.

The Sheriff's office said that as she was attempting a U-turn, her vehicle was hit by a west traveling Ford Edge, driven by an Axtell woman.

The Ford hit the driver's side of the Lexus on Highway 6, just west of the intersection.

KSO said the Hastings woman was taken to a local hospital by Axtell Volunteer Fire and Rescue for possible injuries, and officials said the Axtell woman was taken to the local hospital by relatives for possible injuries.

Authorities said that seatbelts were worn in both vehicles.

This is an ongoing investigation.
