HOLDREGE, Neb. -- The Cozad Haymakers made the journey to Holdrege Friday night to take on the slumping Dusters for a matchup under the lights.

Holdrege would strike first with a one-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jackson Hinrichs. Cole Guthrie would convert the PAT for a 7-0 lead.

Cozad would answer back on the ensuing drive as quarterback Noah Shoemaker found the endzone with a one-yard QB sneak. Jaden Cervantes converted on the PAT attempt to knot the game up at seven.

Holdrege followed up with three touchdowns before halftime.

Hinrichs found the endzone twice through the air hitting wide receivers Nick Weides and Cade Kirwan for touchdowns.

The senior quarterback would also have a two-yard rushing touchdown, his 10th on the ground this season, as the Dusters took a 28-7 lead into halftime.

The Haymakers would find their way back into the game in the second half.

In the third quarter, Shoemaker threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Isaac White. The PAT would be converted to pull Cozad within two scores.

With around six minutes left in the game, Shoemaker found the endzone again on a QB sneak. The Haymakers faked a field goal and Dreu White found Chord Chytka in the endzone for two points. The Dusters would lead 28-22.

However, on the first play on the ensuing drive, Holdrege would seal the game when Hinrichs found Kirwan for a 63-yard touchdown. Dusters would win the game 34-22.

The Dusters broke a six-game losing streak with the win. Their last victory came against the Sidney Red Raiders during week one of the season.

The Haymakers will welcome in the Minden Whippets next week and the Dusters will face the Indians in Ogallala.
