KIMBALL - A "big percentage" of the Kimball Class of 1972 enjoyed a dance, tours of the Wheat Growers Association and high school, and a parade during the annual Farmer's Day celebration on Saturday.

David Baltensperger, who's employed at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, says he doesn't get back often, but he had a lot of fun and enjoyed the weekend celebrating their 50th class reunion in the southern Nebraska panhandle.

"I came back for the reunion," Baltensperger said. "It's just really been exciting to see a lot of people and a lot of acquaintances. I really enjoyed it."

One memory Baltensperger was fond of during his time at Kimball High School was the airing of "Longhorn Air Notes" on KIMB radio. The longtime Kimball radio station was recently acquired by Flood Communications and is scheduled to go back on-air at the end of the year.

Baltensperger and his friend Bill Brown also took in a free hamburger feed following the parade. Other events at Farmer's Day this year included a cornhole and horseshoe tournament, demolition derby, and the Kamakazee Club Flyer’s R/C Air Show.
