Police: Lyman man attacks police officer with knife

A Lyman police officer was injured when they were attacked by a man with a knife.

LYMAN - A Lyman police officer was injured when they were attacked by a man with a knife. 

Police Chief Robert Hackett says the officer was able to detain Jeremy Torres, 36, of Lyman, until officers from Morrill and Mitchell, and deputies from the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office, arrived on scene at 322 Huntley Ave.

The officer was responding to shots fired in the area of Huntley Ave and West P St. at 7:57 p.m. Monday. Lyman is located 25 miles west of Scottsbluff, along the Nebraska-Wyoming border. 

Torres was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault on an officer, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and terroristic threats. He was transported and booked into the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center.
