A Grand Island man could face up to seven charges after police say he cut people with with a broken bottle and chased others around a yard while brandishing a knife.

GRAND ISLAND, NE — A Grand Island man could face up to seven charges after police say he cut people with with a broken bottle and chased others around a yard while brandishing a knife.

Police say officers responded to an active disturbance call in the 300 block of East 4th Street around 9:00 Friday night. Officers found 22-year-old Maynor Mejia Morales outside the house and spattered with blood. They used a TASER weapon to detain him after they say he ignored commands and started to flee into the house.

Witnesses and victims told police Mejia Morales had broken several bottles, then used glass shards to cut one man on his neck and another on his arm. They claim he then grabbed a knife and chased a man and an 11-year-old girl through a backyard.

On top of the violent accusations, police say they found an 18-year-old man passed out drunk. Mejia Morales told them he invited the teenager over to drink.

He was arrested for two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of terroristic threats, a weapons charge, obstruction and procuring alcohol for a minor.
