HASTINGS, NE —  A Hastings man is dead after a collision involving a semi truck just east of town.

Emergency personnel responded to the accident at the intersection of Highway 6 and South Technical Boulevard around 4:35 Wednesday afternoon. Hastings Police said in a news release that 71-year-old Frank Larson died in the crash. Police say he failed to yield the right of way when entering the intersection and his car was hit by the semi. The driver of the semi wasn't hurt.

The accident is still under investigation. The Nebraska State Patrol and Adams County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.

Authorities are investigating a serious crash east of Hastings.

Emergency personnel responded to a report of a car vs. semi crash at the intersection of Highway 6 and South Technical Boulevard around 4:35 Wednesday afternoon.

The crash site is near the entrance to Central Community College. Police shut down the highway to both eastbound and westbound traffic for about an hour.

The Nebraska State Patrol is in charge of the scene and the investigation.
