GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Authorities arrested a Hall County woman following a Saturday pursuit.

Officials said that a Merrick County Deputy witnessed a blue Ford Escape traveling southbound on 3rd Road in rural Merrick County.

The Merrick County Sheriff's office said that the deputy identified the driver as 30-year-old Abbigail R. Gales, who had two outstanding Merrick County warrants.

A pursuit was initiated when Gales fled from law enforcement, officials said.

The Merrick County Sheriff's Office said that the pursuit was later discontinued due to safety concerns for other citizens, travelers and bystanders.

Gales kept driving southbound on South Locust Street in Grand Island, officials said. She was later arrested by the Grand Island Police Department and transferred to Merrick County custody.

Gales was arrested for two Merrick County warrants, a misdemeanor violation of probation, felony flight to avoid arrest, and misdemeanor willful reckless driving.
