GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Grand Island Public Schools District is going to a four-day school week to try and fight increased illnesses.

In an email sent to parents on Monday, the district said medical and illness related absences are at an all-time high.

The district says it is sticking with in-person learning, but only for four days a week. Grand Island students will be getting the next five Fridays off.

Activities will still go on as planned.
