GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A Grand Island man faces several charges after allegedly causing damage at multiple vehicle dealerships at the end of the year.

42-year-old Raul Ramirez received charges for three incidents that tied together on December 28, 2021 just before 10 p.m.

According to Grand Island Police Captain Jim Duering, Ramirez caused damage to Case New Holland, Roe Buick, and Dinsdale's Complex.

Authorities said that at Case New Holland, Ramirez drove his vehicle through a large iron gate causing an estimated a little over $7,500 in damages.

Duering said Ramirez then went to Roe Buick and damaged several of the vehicles with a pre-estimation of $1,500 in damages.

Authorities said they were called by witnesses in regards to the incident and officers were in the area.

Duering said that Ramirez then went to Dinsdale's Complex, where he called himself in to the police. There, Duering said, there was evidence of interior access. Two large windows were found broken with some blood on the glass, according to Duering.

Authorities said that there was smoke within the building and the sprinklers were going off causing responding officers to be soaked in water. Dinsdale's Complex has an early estimate of $15,000 in damages after water and fire damages along with broken windows.

Ramirez refused to listen to command, according to GIPD. Duering said officers attempted to negotiate with Ramirez for a period of time, and he kept making statements about having a knife which caused concern for escalation.

Duering said Ramirez was located in a lofted area, where a K9 had to be carried up a ladder to be released.

Authorities released a K9 unit to distract Ramirez and keep him from reaching for his knife.

Ramirez was the only one to have injuries during the incidents. He had minor lacerations to his arms and abrasions to his leg, according to police reports.

Ramirez received charges for each location. For the Case New Holland incident, he was charged with felony criminal mischief. For Roe Buick, he was charged with three counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief. For Dinsdale's Complex, he was charged with felony burglary, felony arson in the second degree, misdemeanor obstructing an officer, and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Hall County Corrections still has Ramirez confined.
