National Night Out: Police and residents to share an evening in the park

NORFOLK, Neb. -- August 3, Norfolk citizens are invited to spend the evening outside with their neighbors and the local police.
This year will be the 38th Annual National Night Out (NNO). This is an event that highlights crime and drug prevention, according to a press release from the Norfolk Police Division.
NNO is a nationwide event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back, according to event organizers.
This is a free, outdoor event from 6-8 p.m at Central Park. There will also be free food donated by Norfolk businesses, as well as activities for kids and families.
The Norfolk Police Department says they will have representatives from Norfolk Police, Norfolk Fire, and Nebraska State Patrol to speak with citizens and to give demonstrations.
