BEATRICE, Neb. - When it comes to high school sports in Nebraska, one of the things that makes it most special is family ties and how much teams mean to their community.

Such is the case for Jackson Weeks, who was named the new head boys basketball coach at Beatrice. A Beatrice alum of the Class of 2012, he says the program has played a major role in his life.

"Beatrice's program is such a proud program, great tradition, and I want to be part of that success," Weeks said. "Growing up, all I knew was Beatrice basketball and the program is the reason why I wanted to coach. I always knew if this opportunity came up, it's something I'd want to do."

Most recently, Jackson Weeks served as the co-head coach at Auburn High School alongside his father, longtime Beatrice coach Jim Weeks. At Beatrice, he joins his brother Jalen, head coach of Lady Orange Basketball.

When it comes to what made the opportunity possible on a professional level, Weeks credits Beatrice Public Schools and their administration, as well as those at Auburn. In addition, countless players and coaches of recent and past. But on a personal level, above anyone else, he credits his fiancé Emily.

"She's made incredible sacrafices to me and we had a lot of talks about how we were going to make this work," Weeks said. "She basically said 'This is something you've always wanted to do, you have to do it' so on a personal level she gets all the credit."

Weeks will begin his tenure at Beatrice in his 12th season of coaching, having spent time at Auburn and Doane University.
